Ask Somaseen is the only feature that sends data outside your device.
When you press send, the following gets transmitted so the AI can generate your answer:
The data is sent to Anthropic's API (the company behind the Claude AI model). If Somaseen's built-in AI is active, the request first passes through Somaseen's secure proxy server (which forwards it without storing). The server runs on Cloudflare and does not log message content.
Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this data. anthropic.com/legal/privacy
No other Somaseen feature transmits anything. Everything else stays on your device.
Pick the day and what you're tracking. You can log retroactively — today, last week, anytime.
No judgment. Tap as much or as little as you want — only symptoms are required.
The words they said. The moment they happened. Your record.
When did your period start? Tracking this spots cyclical patterns.
Somaseen is an advocate for the women whose symptoms keep being brushed off. A way to build your own record, see your own patterns, and walk into every appointment prepared to ask for what you actually need.
Told her UTI will "probably go away on its own." Her BV, "just a smell." Her thrush — "grab some Canesten." Another round of antibiotics that didn't work last time. A 15-minute appointment for something that needed more.
I got tired of figuring it out alone. Of Notes-app tracking. Of leaving every appointment with less information than I came in with. Of being told my own body was "probably anxiety."
Somaseen is the tool I wish I'd had four years ago. The one that tracks every episode, keeps receipts of every dismissal, sees the pattern your GP misses in 15 minutes, and walks into your next appointment with you — with the exact words to get taken seriously and the proof you were right all along.
Every clinical claim in Somaseen is summarised from one of these source types:
What we don't do: reproduce copyrighted patient handouts; copy verbatim from any source; claim endorsement we don't have; recommend specific brands or named clinicians without their permission; make therapeutic claims about Somaseen itself.
Somaseen doesn't diagnose, doesn't prescribe, and doesn't replace your doctor. It helps you see patterns, ask better questions, and walk into appointments prepared. Every clinical action — medications, treatments, referrals — is between you and a licensed clinician.
If you're experiencing fever with flank or back pain, severe pain, blood in urine, vomiting, or feel very unwell — see a doctor today, or go to ED. Don't rely on the app for emergency decisions.
The single most useful thing you can do for Somaseen is tell me what works and what doesn't. Every feature in here came from a real woman's story. Yours matters.
Send feedback to MyaSomaseen is built privacy-first. This page is a complete, plain-English explanation of every piece of data that exists in or moves through the app.
What we collect about you: nothing.
Somaseen has no server, no account system, no user database, no login, no analytics that identify individuals. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifying information.
What you log stays on your device.
Every symptom, period date, episode, treatment, test result, medication, daily check-in, note, receipt, or any other data you enter is saved in your browser's local storage on the device you used. It is never automatically synced, uploaded, or transmitted. The founder (Mya) cannot see your data. No one can.
If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, this data is permanently deleted. Use the Export Backup feature in Settings to save a copy if your data matters to you.
The optional AI advocate (in development).
Currently in development — not active. The Ask Somaseen AI feature is currently disabled in the app. No AI feature is transmitting any data anywhere right now. The full disclosure below describes precisely what will happen when the feature launches, and is included here so you can read it before it's active. When the feature goes live, you'll see a clear consent screen before your first message and can decline at that point.
When you choose to use it, each question you send transmits the following:
Where the data goes:
Cross-border disclosure (APP 8): sending data to Anthropic involves disclosure of personal information to an entity outside Australia. Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you provide explicit informed consent for this disclosure when you accept the AI consent screen. By consenting, you acknowledge that once data has been disclosed to Anthropic in the United States, the Privacy Act may not apply in the same way to subsequent handling, and US laws may require disclosure under their own legal processes.
If you never use the AI advocate, no data ever leaves your device. If you prefer, you can use Ask Somaseen with your own Anthropic API key (Settings → API key) — in that mode requests bypass Somaseen's proxy entirely and go directly to Anthropic from your device.
Daily limits: the proxy enforces a per-device daily message cap to prevent abuse. If you exceed it, you'll see a "limit reached" message and can try again the next day.
External services that load when you open the app.
Like any website, opening Somaseen requires loading some files from the internet. These services see your IP address (as they would for any website you visit) but do not see any data you log:
None of these services receive your logged data. They receive your IP address (the same as any website does) and standard browser headers. We do not control their privacy practices but they're widely used, large infrastructure providers.
No cookies, no tracking, no analytics.
Somaseen does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, retargeting, third-party analytics, fingerprinting, or any technology that identifies you across sites. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Meta Conversions, TikTok Pixel, or any equivalent.
External links.
Somaseen links out to third-party websites (sexual health clinics, telehealth providers, patient advocacy organisations, information resources). Clicking those links takes you to their sites, which have their own privacy practices. We do not pre-load or proxy these — they only load if you click.
Email contact.
If you email Mya directly (myabertolini@gmail.com), submit a Sister Story, or use the in-app feedback link, your email goes through your own email client to Mya's personal Gmail. It is not added to any list. It is not used for marketing.
Children & vulnerable users.
Somaseen is not designed for users under 16. Some content (e.g. about post-coital UTI prevention) is not age-appropriate for children. If you are under 16, please do not use the app without a parent or carer.
Your rights.
Because we collect no personally identifying information about you, there is nothing for us to delete, export, or correct on our side. You hold all your data on your own device — you can view it, export it (Settings → Export), import it on another device, or delete it (Settings → Clear all data) at any time.
Jurisdiction.
Somaseen is operated from Australia. Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) apply. Because we collect no personal information, most APP obligations do not arise — but the principles informed how this app was designed.
Contact & complaints.
Privacy questions or complaints → myabertolini@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes: material changes to this policy will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top.
Somaseen is an information and self-advocacy tool for women dealing with recurrent urinary, vaginal, and vulvar conditions. By using it, you agree to the following.
Not medical advice. Everything in Somaseen — including the Library articles, the AI advocate, the Fight-Back Script, the pattern intelligence, and any suggestions about treatments or supplements — is for information and advocacy support only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified doctor, especially during pregnancy, before starting any new supplement, or if symptoms are severe.
Emergency. If you're experiencing fever with back or flank pain, severe pain, visible blood, vomiting, or feel very unwell — contact a doctor immediately or go to the Emergency Department. Do not rely on Somaseen for emergency advice.
Your responsibility. You are responsible for decisions you make based on information in the app. Somaseen provides educational content and tools for organising your own health information; it does not replace clinical judgement.
Accuracy. We strive for accuracy and cite evidence where relevant. However, medical knowledge evolves, and content may become outdated. Please verify any specific medical claim with your healthcare provider before acting on it.
Third-party services. Somaseen links to external providers (telehealth, clinics, information sources). We don't control their content or practices and aren't responsible for your interactions with them.
No warranty. Somaseen is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The developer isn't liable for damages arising from use of the app.
Changes. These terms may be updated. Continued use after an update means acceptance of the new terms.
